Johns Hopkins Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology
Ted Giovanis is donating $35 million to help Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers find ways to stop the spread of cancer in the body, which leads to about two-thirds of cancer deaths.
Scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine will study the biological roots of the most fatal aspect of cancer: how it metastasizes, or spreads, through the body.
The contribution, a 15-year commitment, will establish the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology, dedicated to studying metastasis. The institute’s researchers aim to make discoveries that reveal common features of metastasis across cancer types, with the potential to develop new therapies.

Team TGM is a championship-winning race team that competes in major North American road racing series, including the Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Ted Giovanis not only founded the team, but he is also one of the four drivers that compete aboard the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 machines.
Age is no barrier – despite being in his late 70s – Giovanis is still collecting trophies.
The team also showcases the efforts and programs of the Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis Foundation for Health and Policy – JKTG – aims to change health care for the better.
